As Wonderful Group of Companies, we are proud and honored to have taken part in Nc’wala ceremony 2023 as a Platinum Sponsor and CELEBRATED Nkosi yama Nkosi Chief Mpezeni’s 40th anniversary on the throne.
The Ncwala ceremony is an annual traditional event that takes place in the Eastern Province of Zambia, particularly among the Ngoni people. The ceremony is celebrated to mark the first harvest of the year, usually in February or March.
During the Ncwala ceremony, the Ngoni people offer their first fruits to the ancestral spirits and perform various dances and rituals to celebrate the occasion. The ceremony is also an opportunity for the Ngoni people to showcase their cultural heritage through music, dance, and dress.
The Ncwala ceremony begins with a procession led by the Ngoni King and his council of elders, who carry the sacred Ngoma drums. The procession is followed by young men and women, who dance and sing traditional songs to the rhythm of the drums. The highlight of the ceremony is the cutting of the first fruits by the Ngoni King, which is followed by a feast where everyone shares the food.
The Ncwala ceremony is a significant cultural event in Zambia and attracts visitors from around the country and beyond. The ceremony is not only an occasion for the Ngoni people to celebrate their cultural heritage but also an opportunity to promote unity and harmony among different ethnic groups in Zambia.
