ABOUT THE POSITION:

 

A leading fertilizer manufacturing company is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Stock Accountant to manage inventory records, analyze stock movements, and ensure accurate valuation of all raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods. The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance, Production, and Logistics departments to ensure proper reconciliation and reporting of inventory across multiple locations.


 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Maintain accurate inventory records in the accounting system, ensuring alignment with physical stock levels.
  • Monitor and analyze stock movements (receipts, transfers, consumption, dispatches, and adjustments).
  • Prepare monthly stock reconciliations between physical and system quantities and investigate variances.
  • Work with production and logistics teams to ensure timely and accurate stock reporting.
  • Assist in periodic physical stock counts and audits at all warehouses and plants.
  • Ensure proper costing and valuation of inventory in line with IFRS and company policy.
  • Generate inventory reports for management review and decision-making.
  • Assist in developing and implementing effective internal controls for stock management.
  • Support finance and procurement teams in stock forecasting and reorder planning.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

 

  • Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Professional qualification.
  • Full or Associate Membership with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ relevant experience in inventory or cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or fertilizer environment.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management systems and stock control processes.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Pastel, Sage, or ERP systems.
  • Good analytical, reporting, and reconciliation skills.
